According to him, some federations that participated in the last Games came back without any medals.
``The National Sports Commission (NSC) will only focus on those that will win medals in Glasgow.
``The 2014 Commonwealth Games is not going to be another jamboree, we want to ensure that any participating sports federation will have a medal for Nigeria.
``Those federations that featured at the last edition and came back without any medals will have to explain why they should attend the Games this time around.
``The commission is ready to sponsor even if it is only one sport that will win medals than to take 10 sports that will not come back with any medals,’’ he said.
Abdullahi said the meeting was called to plan ahead of the Game and make useful suggestions on the way forward.
``We want to know how the federations want to prepare their athletes, and how prepared they are to participate in the Games and win medals for Nigeria.
``If it is not possible for your federation to win medals in the next Games, then you don't have reason to be there if you cannot meet the target," he said.
The Director General of NSC, Gbenga Elegbeleye, said that a preview of the federations would establish what could be done to enhance their performances. (NAN)
