It was a welcome development for Nigerian cricket, particularly, for the newly elected Nigeria Cricket Federation board led by Engineer Emeka Onyeama as the Nigerian team to the ICC World Cricket League Division 6 competition in Jersey gained promotion to Division 5, alongside hosts Jersey after a week-long competition.
Jersey beat Vanuatu, Bahrain got the better of Kuwait and Nigeria strolled past Argentina in the three Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 6 matches on Sunday.
The Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 5 is scheduled to be held in early 2014 in Malaysia.
In their match against Argentina, Nigeria chose to field first and bowled out Argentina for 185 in 46 overs, with Oluseye Olympio returning stunning figures of 6 for 23. Lucas Paterlini was Argentina’s top-scorer with 48. In response, Segun Olayinka scored an unbeaten 94 as Nigeria won by eight wickets.
