Group slams ex-MEND leader over comments on Dickson

Yenagoa—A group, Grassroots Connect for Restoration has slammed a former member of Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, Mr. Paul Eris, over his open letter to President Goodluck Jonathan alleging that Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State was disloyal and part of a plot to assassinate him. According to the group, the accusation against Governor Dickson was irresponsible and another calculated attempt to create bad blood between the governor and President Jonathan. In a statement in Yenagoa by its National Coordinator, Mr. Nyenye Mathias, the group called on security agencies to investigate the ex-militant leader. It said: “How can a man like that claim that a sitting governor is disloyal to the President? He is being used by some politicians to throw the state into a state of insecurity.” The group said the refusal of the state governor to be drawn into the local conflict between the ex-militant leader and his boys at the Peremabiri community, was responsible for the false claims. It said: “We have it on good authority that some youths of Peremabiri community, interested in freeing their community from the clutches of slavery, had engaged him in deadly battles. “Though the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Hillary Opara, had intervened and is finding a lasting solution to same, the aggrieved ex-militant leader felt he has the sole right over the community and wanted to draw the state government into the crises.” - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/08/group-slams-ex-mend-leader-over-comments-on-dickson/#sthash.QGr48KsT.dpuf
