PDP dares Amaechi on LG polls
By Jimitota Onoyume
PORT HARCOURT— Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State has challenged Governor Chibuike Amaechi to test the popularity of his All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state by conducting local government elections.
While swearing in chairmen of the newly constituted caretaker committees for local governments in the state, Governor Amaechi had said that the council elections will hold after 2015 national elections.
PDP, in a statement by the media aide to the state Chairman of the party, Mr. Jerry Needam, said the delay in conducting the council elections was largely due to the governor’s fear that APC will be defeated.
It said: “We are on ground and ever prepared to engage Amaechi and his APC in a free and fair electoral contest any day and are sure of coasting home with a landslide victory because we are genuine, caring, articulate and purposeful.”
