“They have arrived safely in Nigeria. It is important for us to prepare for the team’s arrival and secure training pitches and the like. We do not want the coaches to have an excuse,” FAM media officer Casper Jangale told supersport.com.
The Flames are in Botswana for a friendly match on Tuesday before proceeding to Calabar.
The build up to the match has been characterized by a verbal war with the Flames coach Tom Saintfiet and FAM expressing security fears in Calabar.
In reaction, Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi hit back at Saintfiet in particular, allegedly making racist remarks against the Belgian who has since, through FAM, reported the matter to Fifa.
Trailing the Super Eagles by two points, Malawi needs a win while a draw will do for Nigeria to advance to the final two-legged qualifying round.
