
Gumel, a former President of NOC was returned un-oppossed in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire during ANOCA’s 15th Ordinary Elective Assembly. Gumel’s opponents withdrew as they recognised his pedigree as a worthy candidate.
“We’re very proud of Gumel and his records in Nigeria. He has done so well and internationally, he is also recognised. We at the NOC wish him well and pray that he joins us as we take Nigerian sports to the next better level”, Ndanusa who is also the President of the Nigerian Tennis Federation said.
Ivorian Gen. Lassana Palenfo, was also re-elected the President of the body, after being returned unopposed.
Zimbabwean Tommy Sithole defeated incumbent, Egyptian Khaled Zein Eldin, for the post of the Secretary-General at 26-24 votes after both had earlier tied at 25-25 with two votes voided.
