NHF: E-collection increases remittance to N2bn annually — Housing Minister

BY CHRIS OCHAYI

ABUJA—The e-collection system introduced by the Federal Mortgage of Nigeria, FMBN, has increased remittance by contributors to the National Housing Fund, NHF, from N730 million to over N2 billion annually, Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Ms. Amal Pepple, has said.

Ms. Pepple, who disclosed this at the sensitization workshop on the National Housing Fund, NHF, said the system was a more accountable and transparent process that had laid to rest the issue of non-remittance of NHF contributions by many organisations.

The minister said: “I am confident that no matter what our views are on the NHF, there is a point of convergence. This is informed by the fact that it is a sustainable mechanism for improving mortgage access and enhancing opportunities for affordable housing in Nigeria.

“As key stakeholders and partners in the housing and urban development sector, you are no doubt, aware of the positive developments in the operations of the scheme, especially over the past two years.
