NHRC flays killing of students in Yobe

ABUJA—The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has described killing of innocent students and a teacher of Government Secondary School Mamudo, Yobe State, by armed groups operating in the area as “dastardly and horrific.”

In a statement in Abuja, yesterday, Executive Secretary of the commission, Prof. Bem Angwe, said it would continue to work with the relevant authorities in the country towards bringing peace and reconciliation in the region to avoid further violations of people’s rights.

In a statement, NHRC  Director of Public Affairs and Communication, Muhammad Ladan said: “Against this background, Prof. Angwe expressed the readiness of the commission to continue to work with the relevant authorities in the country towards bringing peace and reconciliation in the region to avoid further violations of people’s rights.”
