‘Nigeria volleyball needs a league’

Nigeria Volleyball Federation technical committee chairman, Tony Oghuma- Eghiemai has called for the establishment of a viable volleyball league, which will help revive the sport in Nigeria.

He was speaking against the back ground of Nigerian women Under-20 team’s performance at the FIVB championship in Brno, Czech Republic.

The team lost all its seven matches played and finished last among the 20 teams which participated in the 10-day championship.

Oghuma-Eghiemai who was former national coach, however, expressed optimism that there would be positive developments in the nearest future and it is imperative for the federation’s board to source for funds for the running of all its activities.

He commended the players who were in the Czech Republic for their performance despite not being fully prepared for the championship.
