Sokoto - Alhaji Muhammadu Dangoggo, the Chairman of PDP in Sokoto North Local Government Area, has called on the nation's intending pilgrims to pray fervently for peace and unity in Nigeria.
Dangoggo, who is also a board member of the state Pilgrims Welfare Agency ( PWA), made the call in Sokoto on Friday.
''Nigeria is in dire need of prayers now and ever. This is necessary for the nation to continue to experience sustained peace and security.
''The intending pilgrims have greater roles to play in this direction. So they should pray for themselves, their families, Sokoto State and Nigeria in general,'' he said
Dangoggo who is also the Chairman of the forum of Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) Chairmen in the 23 local governments of the state.
The chairman said that the much-desired socioeconomic prosperity would continue to elude the country if peace and unity were lacking in the polity
''With sustained prayers, Nigeria will soon overcome all the current security challenges.The obnoxious situation will soon be a thing of the past
''God will surely intervene and answer our prayers for the nation to develop to be at par with its contemporaries in the comity of nations,'' he said.
Dangoggo advised the intending pilgrims to obey the laws of Saudi Arabia while in the Holy land.
''They should be good ambassadors of their families, Sokoto State and Nigeria. All of us should shun all acts capable of soiling the image of Nigeria,'' he said. (NAN)
