Tukur has brought nothing good to PDP - Adamawa SSG

By Henry Umoru
ABUJA- AFTER an x-ray of the leadership of the  National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji  Bamanga Tukur, the Adamawa State yesterday came to a conclusion, saying that he has not brought anything good to the party.

He was also  accused of being responsible for all the  woes presently bedevilling the party at the moment, adding that it  was unfortunate that since Tukur's assumption of office, the PDP has continued to be embroiled in crises.

Addressing Journalists in Abuja yesterday, Secretary to the Government of Adamawa State, Mr. Kobeis Aris, who noted that  these problems indicate  that Tukur lacks the capacity to lead the party.

Aris  said, "Tell me anything good that has come out of the party since he became the chairman. Rather, he has brought the party to ridicule. He has reduced the party to one day, one trouble.

"Tukur, if not removed now, will lead the party to perfidy. All the states chapters are in crisis. The national headquarters of the party is in chaos.
"It is evident that Tukur, who is our father, cannot lead the party. He can however remain in office if the leaders of the party want it dead."

The Secretary to the Adamawa State government, home state of Tukur noted that  it was unfortunate that Tukur has decided to fight his state governor, Admiral Murtala Nyako(rtd.) even when there was no need for it.

He however  accused the national chairman of the party of being behind the factionalisation of the party in the state, adding that with this action, the people of the state might soon leave the party.

According to him,  though the governor was  still in the party, it will be difficult for him(Nyako) to force any of his aides to remain in the party because of the injustice being meted out in them, adding,  "PDP is not the only political party in Nigeria. It is just a platform and one of the political parties. If they don't like us, we will go back to the grassroots and ask them questions concerning where they want us to go.

"They are the one who elected us and whatever they want us to do,we would do."
According to him,  people like Tukur had been feeding President Goodluck Jonathan lies concerning happenings in the state, adding  that to show that they were with President Jonathan,  the people of the state refused to vote for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during the PDP primaries.

He said, "Apart from that, we even refused to vote for our son, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who was the presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria during the election.
"2015 is around the corner. You can't underrate any opposition. We are waiting to see if those deceiving the President would be able to deliver the party or the election for him."
Reacting, PDP National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur stressed that  all his actions were in consonant with the visions of the founding fathers of the party.
Speaking through  his media aide, Mr. Oliver Okpala, Tukur  said, "No, we won't derail from the objectives of the founding fathers of the party of which he is one. Since he assumed office, he has restored discipline and carry people along.

"Internal democracy cannot be planted without the cooperation of he party. He is working with the NWC members to carry the party along. No right-thinking of the party would ever accuse him of being instrumental to the crisis in the party."
