Four killed, one injured in Ebonyi auto crash

ABAKALIKI — NO fewer than four persons, were, yesterday, killed, while one person is reportedly in critical condition, following an accident involving a Mazda Infinity car and Mercedes truck on Amuzo Onueke road in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Confirming the incident, the state commandant, Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Mr Jide Fehintola, said  the accident occurred as a result of tyre burst, which led to a head-on collision.

Vanguard gathered that the Mazda Infinity car was heading to Onueke with five passengers from Abakaliki when one of its tyres ruptured.

While the driver  tried  to gain control of the
vehicle, it collided with an oncoming truck, killing four persons, while one was critically injured.

The FRSC commandant said the dead had been deposited in the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, FETHA, mortuary while the injured was receiving treatment in the same hospital.

He said: “The casualties were three men and a female and it was in the process of taking them to the hospital, that the army informed our team about the incident. We had to follow them to the mortuary.”

Fehintola advised road users to avoid over speeding to ensure the safety of lives and property of travellers.
